I want to build a bulletproof 8.8 for a foxbody. I want it to be factory type disc brakes (dunno if discs are optimal for manual brakes), dont want to tub the car, 5/8 studs, and i want 9 inch ends (cuz from what ive read those are the strongest???).What diff should i be looking for out at the junkyard to get me started?....Thanx in advance for the help

bullet proof, isnt going to happen.

you need custom axles to run 9" ends

the only thing you should be looking for at a junkyard it a bare housing. on junk yard diff is going to be strong. let alone bullet proof

if im building a 8.8, welding the tubes to the housing
9" ends
larger spool 33 or 35(moser does a 35)
pick your gear
solid pinion spacer
girdle cover with or without the braces for the axle tubes.

how much power do you plan on abusing it with?

I was just asking to see if i was on the right track since this is my first build. Im kinda confused on how to take measurements to be able to switch over to the 9" ends and disc brakes on and still keep the tires in the correct location and not rubbing on the inside or the outer fender. As for the power i just want to go in to the 9's with a bigblock on nitrous and a c4. Currently my axle has welded tubes, stock drums,33spline moser axles, full spool,c clip eliminators,4.10 gears(thinking of goin to 3.73 or 3.90), 15x10 with 6.5 back spacing wheels,28x10.5 tires. Im looking at using the aerospace dual caliper brake setup. With a manual booster is that the best brake setup i can use?
sounds like you current set up is good to go then
Well the thing is my diff is 4 lug and i want it 5 lug sooo im gunna change axles.I also want to install disc brakes on it. im confused as to what i need to in order to install the nine inch ends, disc brakes and still keep my 28x10.5 tires in the stock location.
The DTS Custom shop installed 9" housing ends from Strange on my 8.8 that have the stock bolt pattern so that any Fox Body brakes will bolt right up. Check with Strange. I'm sure they can advise you on what axles are needed with the new housing ends.
