There are both versions in trucks.
A bolt on flange is for a longer wheel base long box truck.
But there are some extended cabs with a long transmission as well.
It will have a centre support bearing with a slip joint in the centre.
Cars only came with a long version.

If you are installing one from either into a different vehicle pay close attention to the speedo drive count.
this is going in a long wheel base truck and it is a short tailshaft slip yoke type. is this the right way to do it? or should i hold off and look for a different one?

I have a 1975 long bed with a big block and c6. I had a slight driveline vibration for years running a 68.5 inch single shaft. I aquired a 2 piece shaft out of a 4 wd and that worked very well. It really comes down to what you are going to do with the truck, how much power etc. I pushed the 2 piece shaft to 11.73 and didn't break it, but I was nervous and greased the ujoints every week. Randy.
if i do this i do plan on the two piece design. i already have the shafts and i even have a single shaft i can rod the slip yoke off of if i have to. i dont know if the slip yoke will fit the other driveshaft. but i bet it will. if not i can always get oen that will.
