I have a set of C8VE heads, I just finished porting following the Mad Porters instructions, turned out well, when I got the heads they were fitted with 2.25 intakes and 1.76 exhausts. the valves that are in the heads are of unknown origin I'm thinking they're Ebay specials. now that the porting is finished they're off to the machine shop, and new valves, I remember a while back reading something here about the best flowing valves for this application, but can't find that thread. Looking for recommendations on specific valves and also advice regarding back cutting if any. Thanks

A429 or B429 at 2.200 flow best.

Next best is Ferrea 6129 intake and 6258 exhaust if memory serves.

Early non CJ and PI heads do not like a tulip-ed exhaust valve.

Thanks for the response, question, the A429 intake in the Summit catalog shows to be 5.05" the B429 is 5.265, they only have the A429 Exhaust at 5.05 also, and no B429 exhaust valves, would the 5.265 valve be the length I'd want? if so is there a B429 - 5.265 available?

A 429 valves are intake and / or exhaust.
B 429 intake is 2.200"

B429 exhaust valve is a tulip style and NOT appropriate as noted above.

Are there any ID numbers on the valve stems???

Thank you for the information on the B429s, I was not aware they were tulip style exhausts. Given that not much else was correct in this motor as I tore it down, what valve length is correct for the C8? I'm fairly new to the BBF and trying to avoid learning the hard way, if I understand correctly the early heads C8-Dove had longer valves than the D3s correct? As far as ID numbers, were you referring to the valves that are in the heads now? if so I don't see any. Thanks for your time.

The B429 is an INTAKE valve.

Ford Racing M-6505-A429 EXHAUST VALVE
Intake valve is M-6507-A429

Overall intake valve length for early heads is 5.270". Exhaust is 5.060"

Later heads have a deeper chamber and shorter valves.
