I have purchased a 532 BBF with standard port Procomp heads, I need help selecting cam.
1991 F150, tubbed out, 4200 lbs, 4.56 gear, 32x19.5 tires. C6 with 10 inch converter. Weiand 8012 Stealth intake.
800 Edelbrock carb.Street driven mostly and some drag racing on weekends.
please make some suggestions. Flat Tappet, solid or roller. What is your advice? Thanks

What is the comp ratio? Are the heads stock as cast? What size valves? What stall is the converter? If you use a solid flat or solid roller they require more frequent valve adjustments than a hydraulic.

PC valve job?

Many assemblers throw large valves on the pro-comp 2 angle valve job sized for smallish 2.08" / 1.65" valves. Those heads flow for crap...

i run real close to your set up mine is a 545 (blown) pro comp heads scj ports, tubbed 3800 4:30 gear 31x17.5x15 c6 4k stall twin qf race brawler 850 carbs i run the comp cams 280H-10 pn 34-331-4 it is 530/530-280/280 --230 @.050 110 lobe sep this cam runs exceptionally well pull good going down the road and has a good idle

now help decide on cam because this is what I have. I had a Comp cam 292H in the 429. I liked it.

In almost every case a proper dual pattern cam with a nod toward the exhaust side of 10 to 20* will offer significantly better power from peak torque on up.

A proper valve job, sizing of the choke, back cutting the valves etc will improve the flow.

We used to get numerous sets of internet assembled PC heads to Correct.

Now I buy both the std and CNC versions by the pallet and offer them "Corrected" and built with good parts.

Good castings just crap for parts. Basically an aluminum D3 casting with a good exhaust port and a mis-engineered intake port.
They do work well with boost.

Go through the entire engine and make certain it is clean. Check the lightening holes in the crank throws.
