I need to redo my rear main cap because I used the wrong sealer on the main cap..I also have a Canton main cap girdle..I have the engine in the car and was going to do it on my back but I have to remove all of the main cap bolts to remove the girdle in order to remove the rear main cap...Has any one done this before WITH the engine in the car..Is there a problem with this or should I pull the engine which I really don't want to do BUT if thee is potential that it would screw the engine up then I will..Thanks in advance..

It depends on what type of car you're talking about. A mid 60's Galaxie has a very large crossmember under the motor, but a Mustang or Cougar only has a tube that unbolts to give more access.
