I added a different master cylinder to my Falcon and now have about 1/4" clearance between the valve cover and the master cylinder. Is that enough? Hoping the engine won't torque over and hit it! With the new master, the brake lines are on the right hand side so that problem is solved, but I need to know about the clearance on the left hand side by the valve cover.

torque

If ur worried about engine moving put a turnbuckle or torque strap. Ive always run one on my 4spds`and i do have one on my fairlane even though its auto..Bill

I'm using the Ford Racing tall aluminum valve covers, there's no indention there.

I would need the strap to be on the RH side to keep it from torquing left.

Would that work?

torque

Needs to be on drivers side front I tied mine with a fairly heavy turnbuckle short piece of chain to where the mount for the sway bar bolts are,, that way still have use of rubber mounts but yet no movement. Hope I explained it good enough [yes I`m sure there are other ways] but cheap and works for me[also been on the other end of broken mount hard on shrouds,etc] Bill

OK.

If you are standing in front of the car, with the master cylinder on the left, wouldn't you want the torque strap on the right side to keep it from torquing to the left and hitting the master cylinder? I'm confused. If the strap was on the left side and the motor torques to the right, it would be away from the master cylinder wouldn't it?

To avoid confusion down the road, always say "left" and "right" as if you are sitting in the car, not standing in front of it. "Left" is always driver's side
