Thanks Charlie, It sure was nice to pull this one out of the Hat this year! Those boys have really worked hard for it this year, and Bud Foster kept there nose to the grind stone.... they played some good Beemer Ball..
Thanks Charlie. Good solid win for the boys. Not the most talented team, but they play hard and smart and won the "should win" games going down the stretch. I'm happier to have a good scrappy team like this, then a bunch of prima donna's like they had a few years ago.
On a side note, my favorite Clemson Tigers laid an egg once again. So happy they gave Dabo a three year deal for beating Duke. Kill me now, please. More mediocrity.
I went through basic training back in 1971 at Ft. Jackson, S.C. and started liking the Clemson Tigers around that time in my life. I've watched them through the Denny Ford years and on up until the present. The problem is I don't know that the available "coaching pool" as of now is that strong. Maybe they should have gotten Tommy Tuberville,,,,,however it's a tough decision.
They had a lot of choices. Kiffin from the Raiders, who would have brought his father from Tampa Bay. Guy from Vanderbilt, Leach from Texas Tech, offensive coordinator from USC or defensive coordinator from Texas, Tuberville, any of the discarded NFL coaches...etc.
Instead, they took the easy way out and kept the interim guy. Don't get me wrong, he seems to be fired up and got them playing better, just don't see how he had the experience to get the job. They need a sure thing. Oh well, hopefully he turns out to be a genius and puts them in good shape and proves me wrong. I actually took my Dad down there this year to watch them play Maryland, they have a great tradition and stadium, shame that they can't back it up...it was a great place to watch a game, even though they lost in pathetic fashion (as was common with Bowden).
