I live in Beaumont,Ca,next to Banning and was looking foreword to the dragstrip being built but it got the boot.
Other than the city disapproving the dragstrip there were also some local "older" residents neer the the old airport that complaind about the build,as there would be to much noise for them.
I kind of got what the residents were getting at but the with the noise and they are in a gated community but the strip was at least two miles away.
Yet they approve the expansion of the airport for bigger planes.

NOT TO MUCH NOISE WITH THEM THINGS IS THERE?

Hey, I know all about this. I even went to the city counsle meeting when they were discussing the race track.
So many people in the audience were all for in favor of the track....but the city counsel members denied it and disapproved it in favor of the big money airport.
The airport expansion is backed by the local casino's....they want to make the airport bigger so more high rollers will come there instead of Vegas.

Drag city is NEVER going to happen. It dont take 10 years to build a race track!!
The website always has "updates" with this big encouraging news...but its all fake and it will never be a reality.
Heck, they are still loooking for a suitable place to build a replacement track for the now defunct LACR (Los Angeles County Raceway)....and its simply not gonna happen.
The big time developers are totally against any such project...and since they have the money, thats where the cities will always take their side.

That's what you get for living in the Peoples Republic of California, soon to be renamed Upper Baja Caifornia.

I laugh at all of those suckers who believed Schwarzenegger's lies including my own parents who live in San Diego.

It's sad, so soon they forget the lessons of history. Maybe we'll have to go back to the roots of drag racing.............the streets. NOT a good plan but, what's left? (besides the government).

You mean the "Socialist Republic of Kaliphornya"

I dont think Schwarzenegger has anything to do with the racetracks being denied.
Thats just how it is here. Kaliphornya is total liberal, hippie, treehuggin, money lovin state. Anything to do with motorsports is frowned upon by these idiots who worship the Sierra Club, Greenpeace, or Al Gore.

The home developers have all the money, and money talks....and the cities will bend over backwards to accomodate any developers, so they can get their hands on that money. They dont see a dragstrip as a big money maker, so naturally, they are all against it.

Its no different than the bullshit that happened here in Washington State,
the wankers that moved into the hearing range of Seattle International in
the mid 80's killed all the fun. For those of you in the area, when was the
last 64 Funny Cars held??

The track was here before the "Boeing Engineers", but we had to bow to
their wishes. The 64 FC used to start at sundown, in August, whats the
point if you can't see the flames??

Chuck.. We got the police watching the racers in Sac and waiting to pop the hoods when they leave the track and give out tickets.. That's FU..

The problem with dealing with your assembleyman / woman is it takes a bunch of time. I know.. Jones the old Tresure of Cali wanted to build a Ethantol Plant in my home town.. Guess what.. it didn't happen..

Funny sometimes it only takes one individual to make a point..

How to fix Drag racing and fill the seats? Not sure? I see a bunch of FFW videos and the racing is awesome but the stands are empty.. Why is that?

Laters and some crazy thoughts..

I know the Governator has nothing to do with local dragstrips but he came in promising a lot and has delivered nothing except more debt and larger govt. The buck has to stop somewhere.

Ethanol is a scam!!!!!!! It takes as much energy to produce as it produces. That makes it a loser. If it is so great why does it need heavy subsidies. In the words of a local farmer "WOuld you rather import your oil or your food?"

As for developers they are not necessarily to blame. In San Diego the average home price is $400K. $100K of that is what the local govt charges for permits to build. That is a crime.

Same here in the land of ten thousand laws, Minnesota. They had the money they had the land they had all support except a couple of greenys and hand ringers got in the way, they said we would ruin the environment for some birds!!! NO DEAL. So let's let the kids go street racing up the freeways at 150mhp and get killed? They must be expendable, but we saved twelve sparrows. Oh the hypocrisy of it all. :( :( :(

Yeah, problem is, I caught my nephew street racing, his little CRX vs an Acura,
he lost in two ways, I caught him in my '73 Capri, and browbeat him for twenty
minutes for being an idiot. He didn't loose the race, but lost on the return road...

I explained to him if I caught him doing stupid **** again, I'll tell his Dad, and
he don't want to get my bro, all 6'7" 285lbs, pissed off at him, . Hell, the nephew
don't like me being pissed off at him, and I'm the "little guy" in the family just 6'2" and 205lbs...

I just hope that the developers of DRAG CITY find somewhere to build. The airport was the perfect spot.It is there close to the freeway and they really didn't have to start from complete scratch.

I don't understand what people's problems are! Everyone hates street racing, yet when an opportunity to open a legitimate track comes up, people bitch? WTH?? I guess all us car guys will just have to go to the other hobby most of us enjoy. Guns. And hope we don't go crazy and start shooting people who need shooting.
