Its been a while sense I've posted but I finally got my 532 to the dyno and I'm not sure if I should be happy with the numbers. The motor made 728 HP at 6600 rpm and 668 TQ at 4000 rpm. the HP did'nt drop off at 6600 but I did'nt want to go much ppast that because of the cast crank. With the timing at 32 degrees it made 727 HP and 664 TQ. We tried 36 degrees and it droped to 719 HP and 660 TQ. The 728 pull was at 30 degrees. Did'nt try it at 28 degrees but may have picked up a little more. The carburator is a Pro Systems 1000 cfm 4150. Most of the builds I read are using Dominators. How much HP increase could I see with a 1050 dom over the 1000 cfm 4150? Here is my build, if anything looks out of whack please let me know and as always thanks for the help.

DIVE block .080 over
Scat 9000 4.300" crank external balance
Scat 4340 H beam rods 6.800"
Diamond flat top pistons
Kaase P51 heads
Comp solid roller .726 lift int and exh .274 int .282 exh @ .050
Ford motorsport intake
Pro Systems 1000 cfm carburator
Hooker super comp headers
MSD ignition
No port work to heads or intake, bolted on out of box.

From your build I think a Dominator would certainly be more fitting, but if that carb was custom for your engine and you go to a Dominator that is not custom it may not be as much difference as going with a regular 4150 to a Dominator. Not a pro here, just something I would be thinking on.

Was the carb setup for your current combo, or an old one?

Thanks for the reply, compression should be 12.5 to 13 to 1, pistons are flat tops 0.016 in the hole. Header primaries are 2 1/8" and 3 1/2 collector. did'nt try any carb spacers. I built the motor myself, machine work and dyno work done by A&S Motorsport in Riverview. I was hoping for 750 HP but maybe with no flow work to the heads or intake, no Dominator or carb spacer I'm not going to get there?

Patrick at Pro Systems built the carb for me based on the specs I gave him for this motor. I know a Dominator will bring in more air than the 4150.

Well, I'm willing to bet there is more in it the way it sits and you could probably hit that 750.

That being said, you could probably do with more carb ...I'd say definitely could, actually.

I guess I should add that I bet the way it sits it'll be more streetable, assuming it's going in torino in your sig and you will drive it on the street...

Other than that, I'll shut up and let the pros answer with their theories, because I'm just a keyboard warrior! Good luck with it...it's a sweet motor and those numbers are nothing to sneeze at!!!!

From the look of the build, it looks like you build a reliable engine. You could have gone with more lift on the cam. Which lobes of Comp Cams did you use? The engine needs a 1150 mininum, with a 1250 not being bad either. Did you use low tension oil rings? If this is be street driven, then what you got looks real good. Just shooting for a specific hp number doesn't always give you a good performing engine for the application.

You definitely have more hp left on the table with your current combo, though. You need to play with spacers, carb tuning, ignition timing, cam timing, and valve lash to find the last ponies. You probably have around 20 more hp just waiting to be found. It costs $$$ finding the last though, lol.

Engine looks good.

The last issue of engine masters tested a 4150 1050cfm carb vs a 1050cfm dommy on a pretty stout 496 Chebby. Based off memory it was something like 12hp better above 6800rpm at a cost of around $1000 new.

It kinda made me happy I went with a track heat intake and 4150 carb vs a victor and dommy on my truck. The street manners were much better and the below 6000rpm performance wasnt worth the tradeoff for my build. Dominators deffinately have their place though.

How is that 4-speed holding up behind that beast with the dual disk clutch? I have a top loader with a dual disk clutch for my 521 and am a little leary if will hold up.
