I am buying a 1969 Torino fastback, but it currently is set up for the factory 351W and FMX. Since I have the 545 in the '32, I'm wondering what pieces I would need to put it in the Torino. There wasn't a 385 available until the 1970-up body, but thinking those mounts will work for the '69.
I'm intrigued with the idea of back-halfing this car but keeping it as close to stock looking as possible.

Easy enough to do but since the engine compartment is narrower than the 70,a M2 front end kit with motor mounts makes it a piece of cake...eliminate the shock towers. Of course, exhaust is always going to be an issue. How nice is this Torino? You might consider a Cobra clone with a warmed up 390 based engine. You can get all the stuff you need for the install and make appear to be the real deal. Another one of my favorite cars.

This fastback was disassembled for paint back in the 80's including total teardown of the 351. Minimal rust and my favorite factory color... Black Jade. This is one of my bucket list cars from back when I was 18.
I've run FE's for years and am looking for a different drivetrain for this. I've been looking into the M2 suspension and am still on the fence.
When it gets home I'll have to have a few beers, walk around it and see what it wants to be.
Sooo... after cleaning 40 years of rat deposits out and assessing it, here's where I think it's going. I have a spare D9 block and a new Voodoo roller cam on the shelf I think will have a new home. 460/C6 but still haven't decided about back halfing and tubbing it. There's a LOT of room under the package tray and behind the rear seat for tubs to hide.
Doing my research on what mounts are needed, headers for a 460 in a '69, etc. Will be keeping the Black Jade paint and DARK GREEN interior. The floors are SO perfect, found THIS hiding under the sound deadener on the driver's side.

I've been checking what I'll need to put the 385/C6 in this and am getting conflicting info. Would like to stay with OE parts, so does anyone know what years/models I can draw from to make it happen? Need trans xmember and motor mounts.
I THINK you're S.O.L on factory parts to get the job done. Crites has a motor mount kit, crossmember, and headers available, but I don't know if the production issues they've had off and on for years are still an issue.

Could be, but I'm good at modifying/adapting. I looked at what Crites makes and it's not hard to reproduce it, so that may be what I wind up doing. This'll be a driver, so headers aren't required just depends on if exh manifolds will work.
Thought you guys would get a kick out of this. Part of the fun of buying engines previous owners have "modified".
So, it's a 1978-ish 460 from a truck and has a spreadbore intake. Get rid of the original carb and buy a spreadbore Edelbrock (yeesh). THEN buy a spreadbore to square bore adapter and mount it upside down. Next level engineering...

Those secondaries probably didn't even open up 🤣🤣
The engine had all it's accessories removed, so we located pulleys and brackets in lovely Wickieup, AZ and went for a roadtrip. The A/C mount was gone, but I have time to find one. Just going to replace the timing chain (nylon cam sprocket is still on it), replace the spreadbore intake with a Torker II I have on the shelf and fab up new mounts.
Idea is you pop the hood and it'll look and function like Henry made it. It'll be interesting to see if exh manifolds fit without modifying the shock towers.
