I may have the opportunity to get ahold of some police interceptor exhaust manifolds for my recently rebuilt 460 in my Lincoln continental. Does anything know if this would be worth it over the stock manifolds? Any pics?
Huge difference. They'll fit fine in a Lincoln. Heck, everything about a 460 fits better in a Lincoln; no 'skeet there's no room for a fan', no overheating etc. If you mod the evaporator case a bit you can move the engine back a foot without touching the firewall.
Check the old manifold over carefully for cracks, and consider some sort of stress relief in the connections to the exhaust. They're 40 years old and may crack - no big deal if you installed with good bolts and anti-sieze, but better if you don't have to deal with it. Relieve the outlets to 2.5" (P.I. were 2.25 when new).
If you are ambitious you could make a nice side business casting up new replacements using better iron, e.g. Ni-Resist.
