My BB fox body. street/strip car, 3 speed trans. Ill be running a 30" tall tire. and im considering what gearing too run in the rearend and in the trans. with standard trans gearing i was thinking 3.89 to 4.33 gearing in the rear.(i'd like too keep my rpm's around 6300 or so thru the traps on the button) but i keep seeing wide ratio kits for tranmissions. would that help with like say 3.55 to 3.89 or so gearing in the rearend. not sure on which trans i'll be using yet. either the c-4 or c-6. but i was wondering about wide ratio gearing for the trans. is it worth it, or would it just shock the tires harder on a 10" tire car?(stcok style suspension) :?:

How much power? how much spray?

A c4 built right is good for a deep 9 sec car, will go in the 8's but shorten the life.

I'd stick with a 4.11, a taller gear just works the converter harder.

Std ratio is fine.

Converter is gonna make all the difference, dont cheap out in this area, you get what you pay for..........

9.5" billet converter. 4800 stall, seemed too work great, not loose or too tight.that is what i have for a c-6, but i also have the adapter too use it with a c-4. motor made 650 or so on the dyno maybe around 250-400 shot depending, with a controller.

my old c-6 went too **** after the first 2 pass's with this motor. but i had ran the **** out of it for 3 years before that with the old combo. i should be mid too low 10's on motor.

3.55 gear will put you thru at about 6000-6100 with a semi tight convertor, with that power you should trap at 10.00 at 135-137 . On a 200 shot it will slip the convertor a little harder, guessing trap rpm at 6500-6600 with these gears.
Assuming your car weighs about 3200 lbs.
These motors love to be loaded down with gear, and pull harder the lower you gear them.

is that with standard tran ratios? and the converter was built for spray!

if it was built for spray, you might get away with 3.70 gears, but you might be overrevving thru the top end on a nitrous pass at 150 mph.
If it was me i would put in 3.55 and try it. You might be surprised.
Standard gear ratio in transmission.

I go about 6900 at 140, but the converter is too loose. This is a 31 tire and 4.33 gear.

I would prolly do a c6, rollerize it and build it with one of Franks transbrakes and to his specs listed it shoud be fine.
