The NEWS says the California port situation is caused by a driver shortage.
Not so fast: It is in part caused by a California Truck Ban which says all trucks must be 2011 or newer and a law called AB 5 which all but prohibits Owner Operators.
Traditionally the ports have been served by Owner Operators (non union). California has now proposed banning Owner Operators.
Long term, truckers in California are not investing in new trucks because California has a law that makes them illegal in 2035. The requirement is to purchase electric trucks which do not exist in large numbers and are constrained by their short range.
And in the words of Paul Harvey, “Now you know the rest of the story”
BUSINESS
CARB to begin blocking certain trucks’ DMV registrations in 2020
Carriers domiciled in California with trucks older than 2011 model, or using engines manufactured before 2010, will need to meet the Board’s new Truck and Bus Regulation beginning in 2020 or their vehicles will be blocked from registration with the state’s DMV, the state has said.
The new “health-based requirements” will need to be met before a driver is allowed to register his or her truck through the Department of Motor Vehicles, CARB says. A new enforcement tool used by the DMV beginning in 2020 will automatically block 2010 and older trucks from registration

Yes... A year ago, I indefinitely postponed three new projects because of part shortages, blatent price gouging, and the imminent climate change. It is worse now, than it was last year. Kinda glad I did not start something that could be overly expensive to finish.

Edlebrock wants $500 for an FE intake manifold... nah... time to go to the swap meets.
People at swap meets around here price the used parts like gold, It's their retirement fund they say.
They'd probably ask 600 for a stock FE intake lol

Hay.. What about putting the refuges to work Long Shoreman. I'm sure a lot of them would like to work? get a foreman that speaks their language to help?
tim
Oh yeah, the Unions would love that and really support it. Let's Go Brandon was just there and he's going to solve this with a wave of his hand. A problem he created.
I just a bought a 2020 Toyota 4X4, towing package, Max cab, etc, etc, V-8 pickup last month. Tried Ford, no V-8s, etc, new or used. The Ford lot was empty and no real answer to when they'd get anything in. Even Toyota said anything new didn't have a real delivery date they could commit to. 6 months was all any of them could say. Maybe
This is what happens when they let Slick Willie (who started this) and others send all our products to be made in foreign countries. Why #45 wanted ALL strategic materials and products from AMERICA.

Then we get Pelosi 👎👎👎👎
Depends on how it happens. The Constitution is a little vague. We have an order of succession, but the Constitution also has something about Congress choosing the President if we lose both the President and Vice President. Article 2, Section 1 states that Congress can remove the President AND Vice President and then choose who will then fill the vacancies. However, there is also a law concerning succession.

In Case of the Removal of the President from Office, or of his Death, Resignation, or Inability to discharge the Powers and Duties of the said Office, the Same shall devolve on the Vice President, and the Congress may by Law provide for the Case of Removal, Death, Resignation or Inability, both of the President and Vice President, declaring what Officer shall then act as President, and such Officer shall act accordingly, until the Disability be removed, or a President shall be elected.

Aluminum isn't the problem....let's go Branden is.
disagree, we all are the problem. All of us buy China crap sometimes we have no choice because that is where the production is now.
Start bitching at the overpaid CEO's and private equity firms who sent all our jobs and components overseas.
Want to start blame, The Nixon admin started the whole lets get China on board, everyone is guilty.
We can vote with our wallets as much as we can vote every november.
The buck stops with us, we the people. Not some crony telling us how much better they are going to make it and than use the constitution as arse wipe.
You do realize we have no constitutional rights within 50 miles of the border right?
Blaming one party or another isn't solving a thing. They both are selling us out when it benefits their donors.
I dislike both past and present to be honest.
I didn't see duubbya do chit in 8 years besides drag us into battles we never should have been in.
Chit that was lied about to all of us. You really think anyone you elect gives 2 shits about any of us?
lol the woke need to wake the frack up

Which absolves us of being the problem.
