I'm toying with the idea of putting the 545 in a '32 3 window project I picked up. First thing in the planning stages is picking the right headers, but with it having SCJ heads I'm probably pretty limited in what I can pick from. Ideally, I'd like long tubes that don't drop too far down below the frame rails. It is raked with a 4" drop axle so if I can't get a suitable long tube, are there any decent block huggers or shortys that'll work with the FMS SCJ's?

I?d give Mad dog headers a call might be custom and might cost but I?m impressed. He just did a set for my 66 F100 fenderwell exit. Flanges fit my cobra jet heads and the quality looks top notch. Their raw steel so after I break the cam in I?m getting them coated.

Can you post a number and name of the outfit that coats headers? Thx.

Buy a tire store too....
Shoulda done that decades ago.... too late to start worrying about it now.
This car is a highboy so I can put a lot of tire on the rear. I'd rather go off the shelf with headers as it makes fab of other pieces quicker and replacement later easier.
And yes, I have a spare tire set just in case.

I'm more intrigued with putting a 385 and C6 in the '32, but have a couple reservations. First is weight. I've read the threads that estimate the weight of a 460, weight savings on the heads and intake, stroker crank 10 lbs heavier, etc. Don't know the weight bias, but with as light as the rest of the car will be I don't want a lot of weight on the front axle or have to set the engine back (wheelbase too short).
I found a '70 Lincoln 460 and C6 for a killer price and can use it for mock-up now and swap the 545 in later in the build.
Yes, it'll be tire challenged but I've run cheater slicks before and not afraid to do it again.....

I'm going ahead with building this so bit the bullet and ordered the Cobra Jet block huggers from Sanderson. Couldn't find anything else that'll work with the SCJ-A heads, so no need to hold off.
Still looking for the short tail C6 but can piece one together from 2 trannies if I don't find one for the BB bellhousing. Going to have to set the engine back about 4" to clear the electric fan and electric water pump.
I'm not running fenders so can go big on the rears. Thinking 30/14.5-15 M & H cheaters with 15x12 Rebel Sprints on the rear.
Getting a little enthused about it.....

Too late to turn back now. Thought they had to make them to order, but must have been on the shelf. I'm going to start a build thread since I'll need some advice on how to get the most out of this on the street and strip.
