hey just wondering how much horsepower my setup will have? its a pretty common settup so someone ought to know pretty colse. here goes;
1978 engine
d3ve a2a heads (thermeactors removed,polished. intakes are just a mild cleanup and gasket matched)
Weiand Stealth Intake also gasket matched
probably just 750 holley but i havent got one yet
cam with probably around .5 lift and 210 dur?
full length headers 21/2 w/flowmasters
i dont know what my compression will be but with the 1978 i would like to bump it up a few points maybe close to 10:1 and i dont know what it is now but heads and pistons are stock peices. what will i need to do to get around 10:1 compression?
i wanna run pump gas on the street so 10:1 should be a good combo for 93 octane right?

would be the best way to get your comp. up, and 400-500 h.p. comes real easy depending on cam and compression.
Use an 850dp carb.
If you're stuck on the 78 heads, you'll have to mill them and mill the block to acheive decent compression with your stock pistons. And then the intake man. will have to be cut also...so...by now you have enough money tied up in machine work that you could have bought the early heads.
Look for C8VE,C9VE,D0VE and D1VE # heads, eBay is a good place to start.
Good Luck

Both Keith Black and Speed Pro make true flat top pistons that will get you close to 10 to 1.

with flat tops will i have to be worried about clearance with a 530 lift cam? i would consider using a smaller cam if i have to but i dont wanna go below around .5 lift.

with your cam. You can go to .600" or so, but should check clearance from .580" and up.
Look into the Keith Black's, They would be your best bet if you're stuck on the '78 heads.
