Van tells me he took a bone stock unmodified 1968 C8VE 460, disassembled, ball-honed the cylinders, ground the OEM valves, replaced only the bearings, new OEM-style link timing chain, super mild (~0.480") mile RV cam, (nothing else) and reassembled. He did 10.30's in the quarter mile all season long....not so much as a spark plug change. Unported heads, one carb, pump gas.

That is amazing. In a fox I assume, any idea what the weight was? It had to be really light.

pretty amazing, what car and weight !
This was in the 1970's. It was a 1500-pound Altered (+ driver). Bantam body, he fabbed the tube chassis, Ford 9-inch from a truck that he narrowed, 3.89:1.

Thanks Paul, you were making me worried that my 11 second 3200 # tank is underperforming......... But I must admit, that with the cam that I bought from rmcomprandy, I could use this motor as a bracket racer or a tow truck. I think a 66 Galaxie with AC and cruise control would be........:D
Wow, do you know how heavy the vehicle was?

go up a few posts !
Yeah, sorry about that ... I must have been typing at the same time because those posts weren't there when I started.
