The truck ran as good as I could expect for the first time out. I was hoping to be a little quicker but in time it will happen.
The truck spun off the line on every launch so I guess the ladder bars need some adjusting.
At about the 1/8 mile the rear seemed to move around a bunch. It was kind of spooky but Kim and AZfairlane joe warned me to expect it (thanks guys). Also your advice about doing the burnout in 3rd works well.
I started with 11lbs of air in the slicks launching off the tbrake @ 3400rpm and spun. We dropped the air to 10lbs and launched @ 3000rpm. It still spun.

Look at the video from the rear. It looks like the truck wants to go right on launch. I could use some help in correcting this if anyone has an idea. Oh and don't look at my reaction times..lol

Here's some timeslips and a couple videos. Both 1/8 mile runs.

Congrats on the maiden voyage...........

Kinda sounds like the converter needs some help, never hear any rpm drop on the shift....................unless its just the audio??????

ya Jon the converter is way to much for the truck. It worked great in 4 low range mud racing but stalls way to high for the high side.
I'm not even sure how high it stalls since I have never had a tach in the truck.

Glad you got the first one out of the way, no it's time to adjust one thing at a time. The engine sounded good, it won't take much time to get it hooking up.

Congrats!

Nice truck Mike! Sounds plenty strong. Should be a runner when you get the suspension and converter sorted.

My combo isn't secret anymore. When I was mud racing I kept alot of info to myself. The vacuum class guys are quiet when it comes to engine specs..
It's a real common build with a couple of my own touches like the custom vacuum cam.

D9 block decked .023"
3y 460 crank
truck rods with arp bolts
KB 137 +.060" pistons
hyd flat cam, adv dur 290, lift .550, .573
ported big valve Dove heads
8012 stealth intake
Biggs 850 dbl pumper
locked duraspark dist (34*) with msd 6al

Wow you converted a 4x4 mud truck into a drag truck :) Thats badass. Yeah the converter is really killing you. I would get that straightened out, get a tach lol, and try bumping the timing up a little. My truck seems to like 40 with a very similar combo. Good luck.

If you have a chassis dyno anywhere nearby, it's amazing how quickly you can get some things sorted out. If nothing else you can see if it might want more timing or less. Same with jetting. Actual hp numbers don't really matter but you'll be able to see gains or losses.
