IDT A-460 Eliminator Heads: Flow Test

Hey Guys,

In the middle of the three ring circus at the shop Friday, while we were dynoing another 598 CID Ford, I did a flow test for a customer from Tennessee that brought these heads in.

The heads were new and had been prepped by the folks at IDT. Their valve job and the chambers had all been hand worked and the bowls had "bowl blending". They were not ported, but had been port matched at the flange entry.

We flowed on a 4.625" bore @ 28" H2O. Intake valves were 2.425" in diameter and they averaged the following;

.100=79.5, .200=150, .300=231.3, .400=301, .500=358.6, .600=400.5, .700=433.5, .750=445.4, .800=457.3 cfm.

It would be interesting to know how many CC's the intake runner is.

According to their literature if I remember correctly. The roof is raised .125" and their gasket is opened up to match. The intake port volume is a good bit larger than the TFS A-460 or EX 514 stuff. For comparison's sake, my CNC ported C-460, repeat C-460, intake volume is 381 - 383 ccs.

I don't quite understand a comparison to your C-460 volume.

on the IDT head, however I would speculate that a full work up would yeild something like 470 CFM @ .800 with that size valve and 45* seats. With chamber work and 52* seats it is close to 490 CFM @ 1.00" lift. One other thing to note is the IDT head is .125 taller than the other "A" heads and I think this helps with a larger intake valve. You can run this chamber at 65 CC if needed. It's a real nice head.

IDT has several levels and options on porting including CNC finishing.

Did you get a chance to do the exhaust also and how did they compare to the TFS A460 heads with comparable work into them?

1985 GT 466 TFS CJ heads. 6.48 @108.7 1/8 N/A, 9's @146 on the fogger.

just for shits and giggles. There is a problem in regards to the exhaust and we'll be contacting IDT about it this week and give them a chance to resolve it, which I'm sure they will. The numbers I got are not valid, so there's no use posting them.

However, I feel like the exhaust on these IDT heads is just as good as any other equally worked A-460 head, such as those from TFS or EX 514.

idt heads

can any one tell me how to get a hold of jay or john that made idt head i have these heads and have some questions please
