Sat. I was disqualified by a trans. leak. Just as I came out of burn-out, I left a serious trail of trans oil up to the starting line. I backed out of the starting line and drove back to the pits and the tranny didn't drop another drop. What do you guys think ?.......just a seal or what , it's definitely coming from behind the torque converter. Any one had this problem and fixed it just by replacing front seal????
The tranny is a race prepared; reverse pattern; no brake; C-6; it has been working flawlessly for approximately 30 passes behind my 557 and the leak just suddenly showed up Sat . nite . I am in the points and need some ideas fast from someone who may have experienced similar problems. Remember, it's not leaking except under a load as in the burn out or take off. Any ideas ;.... should I just replace the front seal or.....tear it apart. Thanks , hoping to get my answer here.

Maybe the converter is 'balooning' and pushing against the seal? Just a thought.......

Hope you get it fixed soon.

Now I don't recommend you do what I once did however it's a quick fix. One year I was chasing points, the points race was over and I got 3rd place. We were testing and tuning for free the weekend before the points finals at Norwalk and my rear main seal was starting to leak. It wasn't bad enough that it would be dangerous for me but it was dripping enough for the track personnel to say that I needed to fix it. So this is what I did for a quick temporary fix to get me through the next weekend.

I cut some valley tin, drilled a few holes and bolted it to my C6 transmission dust cover. The small oil leak was then directed to the headers where it would drip onto the collectors and burn off.

However it sounds like your leak is MUCH worse.

Bump just in case some great tranny specialist see this. Thanks Damon ....for you input. I do have a maverick with a c-4 under which I have a catch can because it blows out 2 oz each pass .... from the breather tube; As long as I keep it full everything is fine. 1-2 ft wheelies every pass. builder said he put too much spring in there somewhere.

I had that problem once last year with my powerglide. My did had just topped off the tranny a little too high. :( Drained a little out and double check it. Problem solved.
