I am not much help but I was always told not to run an HV pump unless you have an extra capacity oil pan...
In your application I would suggest the HV pump with the high pressure relief spring. If you dont have a pump yet or wish to purchase something better than stock check out paul kanes stuff or even the Kaase deal. The bronze gear will not be an issue if it is installed correctly on the distributor shaft. If it is preloaded against the block when the distributor is tightened down or if it is not touching the block at all then you will have problems. This is very critical and has led to many many broken drive pins on distributors.

so whats the proper way to install and make sure you have the correct pre load or lack there of?

The bottom face of the distributor gear should be between 4.035" measured from the block mounting surface of the distributor when the shaft is at full extension and 4.000" when the shaft has no free play.

I'd use the Kaase pump...
