I’m wanting to replace the 400 in my 79 Bronco with a 460 based motor so I’m looking for some build advice.
I have a set of Ford Racing SCJ aluminum heads I’m gonna use and build my motor around those, I’m looking at the Weiand 8021 Intake with the CJ ports to match the heads, I do not have a block yet but my dilemma is that if I build a 466 is this head and intake combo not ideal or should I build a stroker to make use of the heads and intake? I have a Holley SA 670 new in the box from a previous SB build that I’m gonna exchange for either a 770cfm or 870cfm so I need to make a decision on if I’m going stroker or not.
Looking for opinions here, I’m also gonna use one of the Comp XE 4x4 cams and this Bronco will be a weekend driver only.
Thanks

well cubic inches is king my 545 stroker kit came from clegg engine at the time it cost me 1600 bucks and it came with good quality parts I have a 871 blower beating down on it and it runs great TONS of torque and for what you are going to spend in a rotating package I would go stroker, I am also using a melling pump and I make 65 psi at 200 degrees also when I did my build and checked the break away torque it was 55 foot pounds ..perfect and for street dependability I would use the avs 1912 eb carb my 2 cents
