-26 C here this morning. -36 C a hundred miles north of here. We should have green grass coming by now, and instead we're unthawing frozen cattle waterers, chopping through 3 feet of ice on the ponds, and feeding 30% more. Good thing the global warmists changed the name of the latest enviromental crisis to "climate change" so they can still bray when we have a colder than normal winter or year. Check this out.

Snow

Well,
I am about 120 miles north and 100 west and this is pretty typical for us up in West Central AB in Feb -40 this morning no wind. Last few days -20 with about a foot of snow and wind howling making huge 6-8 foot drifts. My mother was down at Hussar at my sister & brother-in-laws and got stranded there for a few days in these blizzard like conditions total white out with hi-ways closed. Calves popping out at the same time 1/2 done calving. Only good thing is I got the old 875 Versatile on plowing snow for Oil Co.'s. Hay is holding out okay, but probably run short of straw to keep the little guys warm and dry. I think this is probably old man winters last kick at the cat. Forcast says 0 to + 2 for thursday who knows ? Ya about that global warming stuff ?

Later Mark L.

Down here in south Iowa we've just had a bunch of rain. I guess I'd rather have 5" of rain than 2ft of snow, but all our pastures are insanely muddy. As for feeding hay, I'm feeding 7 bales (1500lb round bales) per day instead of the regular 5. So much of it is just getting trampled in the ground since it's rolled out on the hillsides, since with 500+ animals there's no other feasible way to make sure all get fed. But, cold front came through and it's supposed to get down to 14* tonight and 10* tomorrow night. Time to haul hay while the ground is solid! Also gotta shoot and take 20 buffs to the meat locker on thurs. Fun fun.
