I am building an 8.8 rearend for my bbf powered mustang. I hope the engine is 500 hp, and it will have a 3,000 stall converter in it with 3.73 gears, no transbrake. Will 31 spline aftermarket axles be strong enough?

I plan on welding the tubes, putting a girdle on it, factory locker, c-clip eliminators, 31 spline moser axles. Is this enough or should I put 33 spline in it, and will the factory 31 spline locker handle it?

Yes, 31's are fine.

2 years for me on 31's with 700 hp / transbrake.

Its not usually the launch that kills the axle, its tire shake.

Don't recall any factory "locker" for an 8.8. Traction locks only. Not good for burn outs in drag racing. Some might get by, but it won't last very long if ya don't know how to use it.
