I finally got my "70 Ranchero finished. The goal was a street/strip fun car and something I could take on our version (Australia) of drag challenge. Due to me not wanting to put a cage in the car, I am restricted to 11.0 for the 1/4 and 7.0 for the 1/8.
I contacted Scott (The Mad Porter) Johnston at Parkland Performance Auto Machine. He set me up with a Ford Racing 521 assembly, a pair of out of the box P-51s, a Torker 2 intake, a custom hydraulic roller cam with solid roller lifters and a custom curved duraspark. My engine builder put it together and topped it with a Pro Systems 1000 CFM 4150 carb. The spark is provided by an MSD digital 6. The exhaust is 2in primary headers, 3 1/2in pipes with an H pipe to the first pair of mufflers then 3in tail pipes with another pair of mufflers (I didn't want to be cop bait).
Scott told me that to run 11.0 in '70 Ranchero I'd need about 650 HP. The pictures tell a tail of how good a package Scott set me up with. He absolutely nailed it! I cannot give him enough credit for his expertise and customer service. Thanks Scott!
Trans is a C6, 3.50 gears in the 9in and Caltracs on the otherwise stock suspension. The weight is right around 4000lb with me in it. Drag strip passes are done on a 28 x 9 slick.

Yeah, Tricky built it. He was a little sceptical at first but when the logic was explained, he was on board.

Thanks, any old turd can be made to look good in print. When I pointed out a couple of flaws, the photographer said they would take care of that. Yellow does photograph well.

Comp is 10.5:1, 3500 stall. Scott thinks it will make a little more.
