My first stab at the juice was on my mustang cobra 2 with a 302 iron world windsor heads small 280 comp cam 230 duration 512 lift it did 13.80 @ 100 mph i was thrilled when the guy at the ticket booth said i need to have a helment now wow what a joy back then 13.80s so i bought a cheater kit took it to cecil county dragway and the first try at a 125 shot it went 11.600 @ 116mph i almost hit the wall cause i didnt know what to expect what a rush they let me do it twice then said see ya till ya get a roll bar ,harness and a fire jacket so my bro knows i just think he cant believe somebody in the family could have a 9 second ride.

Better get one shot in then expect to go through a bunch of pain in the *** if you wanna run 9's all the time.

I think you could pick it up that much, but is this a stock rod deal? headgaskets? I'm sure a snort every so often wont beat it up too bad but hitting it often you better have some good pieces or it aint gonna live long lol.

It's a lot harder to knock a full second off your time when you're already in the 10's.

Ex: Back in the day, I had a basicly stock (just a few bolt-ons) 88 Mustang that ran 13.30's on the motor and went 11.90's with a 150 shot. (A reduction of 1.4 sec in the 1/4 mile) Fast forward a few years and my 514 crate motor in my Lightning went 11.20's on the motor and 10.40's on a 150 shot. (a reduction of only 8/10's)

Bottom line is,.....it'll deffinitely knock some time off your ET's (and gain some MPH to boot), but don't expect a major increase on an already mildly modified vehicle (unless you step the N2O up big time).

The ET reductions that are advertised by the manufactures are always based upon modding a stock engine.

If the lightning is as heavy as I think it is IT would take more hp to overcome the weight to pick up the same amount as the mustang. but you are right the faster you go the more hp it takes to pick up et. I think it will depend on the rest of the combo if he will pick up the second.

My truck is proably not as heavy as you think it is. At the time in the example, it weighed just a touch over 3700. As it sits now,.....it's almost dead on 3400.

Back then it was 11.99 or quicker to need a rollbar, firejacket and a harness. The crank is stock pistons are trw forged flat tops with the 4 eyebrows, rods are paw stage 2(performance automotive warehouse) stockers that are resized with milodon rod bolts i only turn it to 6k but if its still a chance on rod breakage then i can wait for some H beams and i dont really want to runs 9s yet once would be nice but your right too much $ low 10s would be nice i think 1040s with a tune now that i got the new shifter in. [email protected] with a 1.49 60' leaving at idle 1100rpm (tci 11"breakaway converter)has been the best so far and thats shifting at 6k 1st to 2nd was fine but 2nd to 3rd went to 7k then clunked into 3rd cause the shifter and cable was shot last sunday was the first test with the new shifter but had no traction (first day track opened) it only had 1.603 60' and went 10.738 @127.56mph it did shift perfect all three runs 10.821-60' 1.602,10.738-60'1.603,10.859-60'1.660 its a stock c-6 with a tci full manuel reverse valvebody i dont know how many tenths that can cost you (1000rpm flair between gear changes but it cant be good) so with traction and a tune unless i have the tune perfect which would be luck i set the timing at 38 and used my buddys 950hp carb with 75-84 jets and thats it so far as tuning goes when i get everything perfect i think a new converter from lenny will put me in the 9s without the juice also the springs are comp cams for a 280 cam and its a 292 magnum cam (my brother didnt have the heads machined for the bigger springs and it sat for 10 years with those 280 springs under pressure) the only other thing i wanna try with a new converter is a custom cam from Lem.
