I just started my first engine build. My goals are a 7-800 hp turbo motor.
This will be going into a 68 mustang fastback (that is also in need of complete restoration).
My engine block is a D1VE and the heads are a D3VE. I figure these heads with some good port and polishing would be good for my build as it will keep the compression ration down (8.5-9.0).
I plan on reusing the stock Crank after removing all the over casting and having it rebalanced.
I also would like to reuse the stock connection rods but use with ARP studs, and make them floating.
Thinking about roller rockers and a custom cam.
looking at the Summit racing fed mogul rebuild kits. are they any good?
looking at the victor Jr intake.
want to stay Carb (for now).
What are some things I need to worry about? Am I way off with my starting points?

YES ... you're way off!
1. Use a better head with good exhaust ports made from aluminum, (a big chambered Edelbrock head for instance).
2. With a turbo, stock rods are a NO-NO - get some Eagle H-Beam Ford replacement rods.
3. Be sure to use FORGED pistons with this build.
4. A torquer II intake is fine with a turbo.
You are lookin' at somewhere near 12 pounds of boost to reach your horsepower target so, a good short block is important
