I have a 78 Bronco that I need a dana 60 for, I have the parts listed in the title plus an early bronco frame, 302 block, ford 9" rear complete axle,460 stock pistons and rods and other parts I can't even think of. I would trade any of that for a Ford Dana 60 front axle, prefferably a kingpin style, but I'm not picky. I live in central Michigan.

The problem is, SHIPPING. To ship a D60 would cost a lot. I have a pair of axles out of an 03 super duty, 60 front sterling rear. Disks all around. I am in South Dakota. Not going to ship..

Yeah, that would be too costly, plus, I read that if you are going to do this swap you really want to use a 78/79 F250 dana 60 because of the width and the relative ease of it, the later model axles are wider and the fabrication work is a pain. I got that off of www.projectbronco.com.

dana 60

If you are going to put the dana 60 front in the 78 bronco, you dont specifically need a 78-79 style axle. The 78- 79 dana 60's do have the narrower spring pad mounting locations compared to the 80-96 but the overall width (wms to wms) is close to the same. The 78-79 dana 60's are perfect for swapping into the 73-79 3/4 and 1 ton trucks that came with dana 44's. When you put a 60 in your bronco, you'll either have to weld the c-bushing triangles to it, put a 4 link in, or mount leaf springs in the truck. So the spring perch spacing on the axle shouldnt matter. This should make your search a little broader and easier to come up with an axle.

How much? I was really looking for a 78/79 axle because the fabrication is much easier and cheaper. Do you have the whole truck?

Oh I agree, I've been reading up on it for years now, it's time for me to get serious about it,trust me, I'll take any year dana 60 as long as the price is right, I really want kingpin, but I won't complain about balljoints. I've read several times that the fabrication is much easier with a 78/79 axle, I'm going to weldthe wedges on and stay with coils. I see too many of these 60's sell for $1500.00, that's to much, I'm also trying to get rid of the parts that I'm not going to use, but they are good parts.
