Alright.. I haven't been on here in a while because my computer crapped out on me :(. I recently bought a '66 Fairlane 2-door "fastback" from Southern Missouri. The car is in great shape, but it does have a few interesting issues. The one that needs to be addressed first is the speedo not working. The car has a newer 302 mated to the 4 speed trans from an '89 Crown Vic. The owner told me that the speedo stopped working recently, so I figured it was just something along the lines of a snapped cable. But when I went under the car I found the cable and gear tied up.. It seems as though he did not adapt the old cable to the new trans when he installed it, which is why it doesn't work. So my question is this: Do any of you know how I can adapt the old setup to the new trans? I haven't taken an in depth look at the trans itself, but obviously something doesn't fit if he didn't hook the speedo up. Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

id be more worried about the throttle valve cable not being hooked up... i think lokar makes an adapter for it but if its not hooked up the aod can toast itself, then id worry about the speedo... or if you want to make it easier just swap in a c-4 :) then all youd need is the speedo cable :)

How can I tell if that valve you mentioned is hooked up or not? BTW, is the C4 what my car originally came with?
