Need to know the differences, will this work?

I have an 87 F250 with 460 and 4 speed manual.it has an aluminum bellhousing that is now busted.I was wanting to put in a stronger cast steel bellhousing from a 70's model truck.Some of the info that i can find states that the older bellhousing will only work for an internal ballanced engine.my 87 is externally balanced.Will this work, will I have to change the clutch or pressure plate, is the shaft the same length.I know that the 87 has a hydraulic clutch and the older has a mechanical linkage, is this convertable to the hydraulic.i know someone has some info on this.Thank you
