Hey y'all, FNG here with a kooky question.

If you were going to take a '79 Bronco Custom, and add around 1,500 to 1,600 lbs of weight to it all around, (this would come from a custom armoring process that is put to the inside so as not to change the outer appearance) how would you build it up to compensate?

Well assuming you meant to have it look stock, then I would add a lift to it. If you want it drivable you open up all sorts of problems. Stock Dana 44 (front axle) and Ford 9 (rear axle) are not meant for that kind of excess weight. So now you are looking at a Dana 60 front conversion and a Sterling rear (all 8 lug off a 3/4 ton or 1 ton). Then what motor can move that kind of weight? Probably need to add a 460 BB or Cummins transplant.
