I have a 557 with P-51s. 12:1 comp. What do you guys suggest for timing on something like this. Its at 29* right now. Close?

Anywhere from 27 to 31 should be close; every application will be a little different.

Got mine at 28 degrees dyno like this number.
The initial at 16-18 degrees. IF your running locked out the initial won't matter but for my street motor it made a huge difference in idle and staying cool to run the high initial advance.
