I was reading national dragster about a 5 day bracket race in florida. Peter Biondo won the 5 day points deal with semi finish and a win on saturday, congrats for the win. When he went to the semi's he had r.t.'s of .001,.001,.001,.000,.000 wow. I think I will just hang it up now. I've had some good runs on the lights but nothing like this, I always roll a bit in when I hit a .000 because it's just a bad job of red lighting. Any thoughts?

That is a string of amazing lights. I had a couple of strings of 00 lights this past season..... just most of them had a - in front of them. By the way, love your car Ed, It's nice to see a chevy with a REAL engine in it

That is pretty amazing when you consider you have to stage the car absolutely perfect every time to keep your light that consistent. I don't see how a guy can pull to the line set up on .001 lights all night, and not add at least a couple of numbers to his delay to be safe.

That's what I was thinking, it would never work for me. It was interesting looking at his lights lights on Saturday when he won. His range was between .004 and .020 if I remember right, which is a little more believable.

Remember the guy makes delay boxes. He knows what it takes!
Yes he does, but you still have to stage it up and let go of the button every time. It's not easy to even get that tight of reaction times on a practice tree, let alone in the race car, under race conditions. But Peter is definately an above average racer.

When I was at the e.t. finals in woodburn they were checking all cars in the staging lanes for biondo delay boxes. I asked what they were looking for and they said they were checking to make sure one colored wire was not hooked up on these boxes. That's all they said except that people that had these boxes knew what they were looking for. Anybody know what they are talking about or ever heard of this?

You can't run the tach feature that is in these boxes. They were looking to see if the tach wire was hooked up or not.The other thing you have to remember is that the guys such as peter and ones like him hit the tree atleast twice on a regular bracket tree.Box takes the best of the lights.

But the box is letting the hit that timed out first to release the car, it doesn't know the difference between a .001 red and a .001 green. (or at least it better not) LOL.

there was an et racer, constant winner. that always cut a close lite. his wife was in the stands with a video camera for every race, but it was always aimed at the tree. Another suspisious racer stood behind her with a rag ans just as both bulbs were lit he dropped a rag over the camera. her husbands car never left the starting line.

I am not saying thats the case here but the technology is available.

Thats funny because a few years back we had a local racer with a similar situation. His wife would video tape on the line but seemed to be aimed at the tree. The starter stepped in her line of sight and her husband had a very bad light. Doesn,t race any more but has won many races including division and national events.
Friend of mine was at vegas for a bracket race and said peter gave him track counter system to try if he wanted to, he said that he never would but what the hell. Things that make you go hummmm

All this kind of crap is the very reason I quit running any of the big money bracket races. Between this stuff and guys buying their way into the third round was more than I could stand. They're are some great racers out there that are tons better than most, but there are some that almost seem Too good. A lot of the "killers" from several years ago, you no longer hear alot about.

Frank, what is nhra's take on this and is there any rules that would avoid any of this?
Romove all electronic's, standardize all delay boxes or are the sumbags just going to find a way no matter what. Any ideas?

Nhra's take on this is that all wiring associated with the delay box must be fully visible ,labeled, and traceable. Trying to trace the wiring on some cars is a nearly impossible!

MAGIC BOXES

THE LAST NIGHT I WENT TO 2 FINALS IN ONE NIGHT IN SUPER PRO AT HOUSTON RACEWAY PARK, I WAS BETWEEN .000 AND .007 ALL NIGHT WITH 1.155 IN THE DELAY BOX IN MY DRAGSTER ALL NIGHT. I WENT .021 AND .023 ON 2 PASSES WHEN I ROLLED .02 MORE IN THE BOX BECAUSE THE PEOPLE I WAS RUNNING I KNEW I DID NOT NEED TO KILL THE TREE AND GO RED. I STAGE THE SAME AND HIT THE TREE THE SAME. I DO NOT HAVE A BUMP DOWN FEATURE WIRED IN THE CAR NOR DO I DOUBLE HIT THE TREE, THAT IS WAY TOO MUCH THINKING FOR ME. IT IS POSSIBLE TO DO WHAT BIONDO DID, BUT THERE ARE SOME CHEATIN BASTARDS OUT THERE WITH WAY TOO MUCH TIME ON THEIR HANDS TO THINK OF WAY TO COMPLICATED METHODS OF CHEATING. I WENT TO A BIG BUCKS RACE THANKSGIVING WEEKEND AND GOT BEAT WITH .002 DEAD ON 2 DOWN AT 16 CARS. THE SAME GUY WON 2 DAYS AND WENT DEEP ON THE 3RD DAY. MAKES YOU THINK SOMETIMES HOW YOU HEAR ALL OF THESE SAME GUYS WINNING A LOT OF BIG BUCKS STUFF. EITHER THEY ARE SOME BAD DUDES OR THEY ARE JUST REALLY CREATIVE.

Yea its hard to compete at those big money races, I went to the Jegs Race in Indy and raced for four days and lost by 1st day with a .008 package .006, .009,.005 for the rest of the days. Having a door car is hard enough but Damn I was on it and sometimes you wonder how they do it. I have had days where .006 was my worst light, it is all in the staging and hitting the tree. On the practice tree I carry a .007 range most of the time and thats what I expect on the track if I am staging it right.
