Sharp edge at the bottom of the bore was not removed after the bore / hone. Piston rocks as it begins to move up and is scuffed by this sharp edge.

Dress the bottom of the cylinder and reuse the pistons.

In addition check for excessive piston to wall clearance.

Blueprinting is a lost art that adds strength and reliability, which you can also use to make more power. It also avoids stuff like this. Part of blueprinting is deburring and breaking every edge on the engine. All 1001 of them. ;) Hit those edges, get it back together with care, and enjoy your ride.

Nice …I bought this stroker engine complete and ran it as is ,never seen the innerds until now When you do it yourself all of the small stuff adds up to a better engine.Scotty Thank you for your expert diagnosis.Pistons and crank will be coming out and let the massaging begin.Thanks for the replies
