I am rebuilding a 1996 efi 460. I want to get a new harmonic balancer for it and for some reason I can't seem to get the pulley and balancer separated. Am I doing something wrong or are they a one piece setup like the older versions?
i went to rock auto and seen a pic of a 96 f250 460 balancer. and it didnt have the pulley made onto it. so it could be rusted or stuck somehow. is the center bolt out?
Thanks for the response. Was beginning to wonder if the question was so profoundly stupid that noone could stop laughing long enough to answer it.
Yeah I've seen pictures of the balancer without the pulley also. I just can't seem to get them apart and don't want to damage the pulley. I've tried prying, hammering, heating. Just can't figure it out. Maybe I'll just get a new pulley and balancer.
Anyone got any ideas on a good balancer that is just for daily driving. I don't want to spend $200 on a racing balancer. Just don't need that overkill.
