I've got a 67 500XL with a .060 over 460. What is the distance between the shock towers, centerline to centerline? I'm wondering if with the weight of the big block, it hasn't pulled the towers inward a bit. Thanks

Those cars were available with a 390-428 FE and they weigh around 620-650 lbs. You could probably throw a 7.3 Powerstroke in their and it would hold up.

1967 Galaxie didn't really have shock towers. They had the more traditional upper / lower control arm with the coil spring in the middle. They also had a full frame and with that were a favorite with the police, taxi cab companies. Very durable cars.

Forgot that the XL is Galaxy class. I was thinking Fairlane. Just point of info- Falcon/Fairlane those years had a solid lower crossmember that really supported the towers. I still have my 67, 47 years, and yes I was the kid jumping railroad tracks. Then 20+ years of drag racing. Towers are still in great shape. Running a 351C, would drop a 460 in there without worry.
