I have an 1987 camper with a 460 carbureted motor. It had an air pump which was removed before I got it but still have all parts. My question is I’m replacing the exhaust manifold gaskets which aren’t that old. I flattened the manifolds on a belt sander and was wondering if by putting the air pump back on, would it keep the manifolds cooler thus making them less likely the warp and low the gaskets?
Thx

When the thermactor system injects air into the exhaust ports the additional oxygen combines with unburned hydrocarbons actually increasing temps.

Install the manifolds with high temp rtv and no gasket or a copper gasket to conduct heat to the cylinder head.

You could always use it as a Evac system for the crankcase. Especially since it's already mount. Just change out the suction and discharge sides.
