Does not sound to bad, play with tune and I would think you will get a little more out of it. Should be able to get it into the 6s, which should be about right Joe.

These things are not simple to determine online. You need to rule out the basics first. Fuel system, ignition timing, and cam timing. Where is the cam degreed at? Are you footbraking it? Is the converter tight? What concerns me is 1/8 mile speed of 92 mph..........it is low for 3250 lbs. The gear is awful steep to me as well........D

92 mph was my most concern

28 X10 slicks

foot braking leaving @ 1500-1800 so I'm gonna say it's tight

cam install straight up power band of cam 4000-6800 comp cam book recommended stall 4500 for 460 / 5000 for 429

ignition timing was @ 38 turn down 36 car slowed 7.30 still @ 92mph I'm using an procomp distributor

aeromotive 2000 fuel pump my plan are to spray NOS after tune car just wanted some seat time with 4.88 that what was in it

Thanks for your output guys

get those 4.88 out of there! that is to much gear with a c4 trans! more like a 3.73 if nos is going to be used! and tune from there! put a glide in it for real!

Can you give tire size and 1/8 rpms... gearing is hi unless your 33" tires than still big

Looks like just some mismatched parts in the combo, 4.88 is way too steep for one. I don't care for the cam specs much either, why would you crutch the exhaust with more duration just to handicap it with less lift (doesn't make much sense does it???) and the split on duration is not enough IMO.

What fuel are you running? I would use either VP C12 or C14 with your compression.

Iron heads LOVE timing 36-38 is more than likely not enough, 42-44 all in is probably gonna be close to what those heads will want.

If you plan on spraying a small shot a 3.73 to 3.90 is where I would start for gearing 4.10-4.30 N/A. (assuming quarter mile here)

Get the gearing changed and put some more timing to it then see where the converter is flashing and have it changed as needed.

For reference, when I had the small block with a vortech, aode trans, 26" tall drag radials, 4/10's, over 3300 lbs, mine went a 1.63 and a 7.28 at 97 mph.
If I remember right, Precision said it was a 3300 stall converter.

here's mine (2 cents) I would start at the fuel system, 92 MPH is way too slow with the car having a 1.49 60', if you have a 550 to 600 HP motor the holley blue pump is too small to keep up with that HP and a Dominator, so chech pump flow and pressures, then I would check the fuel lines, filters and regulator to make sure all flows well, check jetting on Dommy, with your combo I would jet it at 94 square without P/V's and set timing at 38 to 40* total timing, make a pass and read plugs, the 488 gear is a little steep but not to much for 1/8th mile tracks on the motor! let us know how it goes and good luck friend.

Not sure I agree with this totally, I made 695hp running a Holley Blue and never had fuel starvation issues. However I did not run a Dominator. 1000cfm Q-series 4150 flange, 523ci, shifted at 7400, went through the traps at 6300rpm.

Eric, when I was running my buick with a 950 4150 flange carb I had no issues with my fuel system but when I changed it over to the Dominator it would go lean on the top end, so I put a new blue pump and it did the same thing, then I changed it to the holley black and I had no issues for a year and a half until I switched to E-85 and the new black pump would not keep up, I had to install a BG 400 and my Buick was about 650 HP, thats my story hope it helps

Any updates? The guys make some good points....alot of little things add up to making the car quicker....Do you have a 1/4 mile track to run it at? That would tell you a bunch about the fuel system.....My 71 Mach did 90 mph in the 1/8 at 3750lbs, hyd cam, D3's, and Pro-Tracs...lol...that was 100 years ago.....the GT500 does 95 in the 1/8 at 4115lbs w/ DR's...both cars didn't (don't) hook for **** though...yet. Anyways...just for comparison.....D
