Just as an alternative, No Limit makes a ladder bar for Ford trucks that fits with the axle below the spring, and has a straight pin adjustable preload on the front that does not require the use of housing floaters. I use them on my 1955 F100. I used a 2" drop hanger and a reverse eye on my top leaf to get a 3" overall drop. The advantage of this system is no welding involved. Watch your spring pack count too, often its too stiff for drag racing, your not carrying a load as a work truck would anymore, so having 9 leafs is often a bad thing, I wound up using 5 for best results, along with appropriate race shocks.
