what you guys think of these they have the torrington bearing on back or you think a billet steel without the bearing would be better

When using the OEM or stock replacement soft iron cam thrust retainer plate you MUST USE an Iron top gear OR a billet is permissible when a roller thrust bearing is present as on the summit part.
That is a repackaged timing set made by SA.
We use that set in engine pro with either a Rolon OR Ewis chain as they are better quality than the BS entry level chain.

so do you like useing the ( repatched type timing chain ) ie the ones with the torrington bearing . better than a iron top gear running on the oem thrust plate?
Hard to go past a Roll Master SA timing set, Lem sell's them for double pin cam's and get a bronze plate at the same time.

Seen those lifters on the other site, do they have pin oiling? If not i would look at getting better lifters and bigger lifters.

Cheers, Bob

I mean bigger lifter going from a standard size lifter .875 to a .904 or .937 size lifter.

Yes you would have to bore lifters out, but by truing up the bores on these old blocks you will increase power and reliability, because the bores have been corrected.

There should be a hole on the bottom have of lifter so the needle bearings get pressure fed oiling like this https://img1.wsimg.com/blobby/go/7b0d6703-02c7-4d7c-834a-da872ff630ae/downloads/1d17hdqfu_461951.pdf

Your in Canada right?..........you might to get in contact with Frank Merkle, he builds C6 transmissions and will help you with your converter and engine.............his a drag racer and know's his stuff.

no the lifters are not pin oiling ..
no the lifters are not pin oiling ..
If your going to put street mile's on this combo, think about getting pressure fed pin oiling lifters, other wise your going to have a lifter fail and do more damage to your engine or even destroy it completely.
