are welcome to join us at Action Dragway this coming Saturday, Oct 20. Krisse Lawyer, her parents and myself will be teaching her I.C.E. class at Rose Hulman University on campus Friday, courtsey of her professor, and she will have her dragster there. Then on Saturday we will go out to Action Dragway on Hwy 41, for the lab portion of the class and she'll be racing.

For the past three weeks the car has been loaded with telemetry and she has been gathering a lot of data. From that data they have been working through a lot of problems in the classroom.

One of the interesting things that she showed me was that she undergoes 3 Gs of acceleration with her 1.04 - 1.05 sixty foot times and that her deceleration on the brakes is 1.5 Gs and goes to 2 Gs when she pulls the chute. Another thing that they were seeing, was a lot of lateral acceleration as the dragster moves around (hunts) down track. Furthermore the telemetry is sensitive enough to pick up the firing order of the engine and swings from right to left during the runs. It really shows up as a spike when 4 & 2 fire on the right bank in succession and 7 & 8 fire on the left bank in succession.

Anyway, I can't invite you to the classroom Friday, however any and all www.460Ford.com guys are welcome to join us at the dragstrip on Saturday. You'll find us when see a lot of college students in her pit area. Let's pray it doesn't rain!

Tom,

Class went fine on Friday. Then Saturday at the track she had the quickest & fastest car there by far with high 4.70's and 142 mph. Action Dragway has a very short shutdown, so she was pulling the chute at the first mph cone before the finish line. In the second round of eliminations she made a pass, pulled the chute and gotten slowed down okay. However as she made the turn-off, the wind (actually crosswind) gusted her chute and it got hung on the end of the guardrail. Bottom line was, that it ripped her chute up really bad and they didn't have a spare chute. Therefore she was done for the day, and we had a "pissed" driver on our hands. So maybe next weekend :!:

Thanks,
