Using all MSD product, 6AL, 8580 dist., 8987 retard/start box, Blue HVC coil. I have the distributor locked at 34*......do you think that is a good timing mark? Also would gapping my plugs (autolites AR32) to .50 be okay for what I have?

Before I had it lock, it use to be 12-15 with a total of 36*

I know a dyno would know best but have never made it there yet!

More of a mod list would be nice...

My466 on the dyno liked 35° the most. It was also cutting out at 7200 of which we are attributing to the plug gaps being too much at .045, I've since backed them down to .035.

I have been gapping the plugs at 36 previous also.

Mod list:

514/520 SCAT kit
Cast DOVE heads cnc ported (to the max) 12.5 comp. Oversized valves
Roller cam 300/310 duration with .654/.647 lift (valve springs are doubled)
roller 1.73 rockers
Victor Jr. manifold stock
1050 dom.
2 1/4 primary to (I believe) 3.5 collectors
TH400 trans w/ T/B and 9" w/ 3.89 gear

I have the limiter chip @ 7k
shifting at 5700 (playing with those points still)

im not going to say to run what i am because you hav a longer stroke than i do. because of this you dont need the timing i do because you spend more time at or near TDC than i do.

As I was saying before locking I was at a total of 36*, think I should be lower than 34*?

id say 34 total is about right on.

Cool. haven't been back to the track since the change but we'll see how it does when I do get there.
