So my brother will probably be getting his license this year sometime. Being that my parents aren't in the same financial situation they were in a few years back when I got my Ranger as a graduation present...I am considering passing it on to him.

For a replacement vehicle I want something used. Yes you read right...want a used vehicle. I cant afford to make payments on a new one. But anywho...

The replacement vehicle would have to

A. hold up to driving 70+ miles 4 days a week.
B. be able to haul my F100 to the drag strip, and a flatbed trailer capable of hauling it. (120 mile round trip)

I think another mid 80s diesel F250 would be a good choice, but this time I want a auto and I dont need another 4x4.

Thoughts?

Try to find you a 94.5 - 97 F-250 Powerstoke w/ diesel. These are the first year of the turbo charged versions. They pull great and are dead reliable. I have a 95 (stick) and a 97 (auto). Both of which are 2wd.

FWIW,..... the manual (stick) is more durable but it does get somewhat tiresome shifting all the time. BUT,....the E4OD automatic tranny is expensive to rebuild when the time comes,......and it's not a matter of "IF", it's a matter of when.

Hope this helps.
