I have been to this event several times over the years, and the burn out contest has been on going forever. Right down the middle of main street.

This guy was doing what the people that put the show on asked him to. Was it the smart thing to do , not buy a long shot....... but from what has been in the news , this guy is catching all the blame and suffering for it.

The crowd was roped back but people still stepped over when he started his burn out and got to close to the road. I don't know if everyone had stayed back if anyone would have gotten hurt, probably still would have, as he got off the roadway a good bit, but he is not the only one at fault.

imo, The people that should have been indited are the promoters and not the driver. They should have known what could happen doing this type of thing w/out concrete barriers. Rick

I have mixed feelings on it, I agree the promoters really really need to be held responsible but on the other hand Troy did stay in the throttle WAY too long

Here is a 60 minutes episode showing the burn out and interview with him

This one shows the burn out and aftermath without the 60 minutes stuff, you can hear him shift to second gear and stay in the throttle.

I hate that he was trying to do a good deed and getting hammered for it especially since the fat cat promoters are walking away scot free but common sense would say not to stay after it that hard that long.

Vengeful bastards! Once again, it disgusts me that I'm surrounded by them. Around here I hear trash talk about the Amish, but I remember that case that got played on the news for a while about the crazy guy who shot some Amish kids in a school house before killing himself. What the news reporters found so odd was that the families of those killed didn't want any revenge and didn't go off suing the guy's family and what-not. Accidents happen and it's rarely one person's fault, and even if it is, punishment isn't often the best way to handle it after the fact.

Like that lady on the 60 Minutes interview who thinks he should be put in jail, Daria Griswell. She's such a bitter bit*h. How can people actually think that way? I suppose she's one of the many who've filed civil suits. Grrrr Hmmm, seems the people leaving comments about that youtube video of the 60 Minutes episode agree with me. Maybe there is hope.
