Here's a few pics of my "get me by project" 'til I get my '67 Galaxie done.( 'bout this time next year). It's an '86 F150 4x4 shorty that was given to me and since I can't ( don't have time or money) convert it to 2wd I'm improvisin' I'm taking 2 coils out of the front to start, maybe 3 we'll see how low 2 get's it. I'm guttin' the front end and just runnin' on the spindles like a 2wd would. And I'm taking the 3 1/2" spring block out from under the rear leafs to lower it. So essentially, it'll be a 2wd with hubs. If nothing else, It'll get a few comments.

This is kinda what it looked like before I started

.

Some bodywork done and engine compartment ready for my 466.

C6 installed and waitin' for the 466 as well.

Interior gutted, painted, and rewired due to a series of wire fires ( now I know why it was given to me   ) MSD is hot, got just enough wiring to make her run. Engine should be ready in a few weeks. Also installed a 3.50 Detroit Locker.

Well, it's a start. I started on it 2 weeks ago, and due to no power/air tools I'm doin' it all by hand. Including the sanding. And the best part: Well, I'll keep that a secret and see if you guys can pick it out as I add pics.

Thanks Lonnie, these things happen when you got a few extra minutes a day to burn.   Besides, I need to get it done before July 1st. That's when they have the street races here.

A little (and I DO mean a little) body work done and first couple coats of paint applied.

Driver's door still off, needs hinge bushings.

You can't see it very well in this picture, but the whole roof from the center of the window to the passenger side was caved in to the window gasket. With a little work from a Uni-Spotter and a hammer it's back up where it belongs.

As you can see by the color of the doors, the inside is #224 Ford Blue (yup, from a rattle can)

I will tell you that due to the intended use of this truck, (drag racing only) I did only enough body work to make it descent. It's not even a 60 footer   More like a 25-30 footer.  Wait til you hear the good part; I bought my paint by the case from Wal-Mart. I was thinking of calling it Krylon Kustoms.  Hey the truck was free, and I just need to get something on the track until my Galaxie project is done

I don't plan on winning any car shows with it, just races  Even better, due to the solid week and 1/2 of rain we had I've only got about 18 hrs total in it 'cause my garage is only big enough to park in, so I have to still work outside in the "Big Sky Garage"

My 466 should be done in the next couple weeks; it's a bored .030, Probe flat tops,Scat H-Beams, fully ported D0VE'S (2.25's/1.76's) as per RHP & topped with Harland Sharp rockers, Lunati 61605 hyd bumpstick, Victor intake w/ Holley 850 & 150 shot-o-spray, and blowing through LnL Headers, all backed by a well built C6 and 3000 stall and ending up at a 3.50 geared Detroit Locker.

I'll letcha know when she starts breathin'

Thanks for all you guys' help and endless knowledge to which I dedicate my first pass on July 1st.

Well, the paint is done. Tell me honestly that you can tell it was done with Krylon :D :D Here's a couple side pics:

Grille redone and chrome cleaned up:

Note the reflection of my Explorer on the box in the top pic:

And a shot of the inside, done except for switch panel...

Motor supposed to be done tomorrow or Thursday, then we can assemble it and make some noise...
I'll keep ya posted.

Doug,
I don't know how I missed this thread at the start, but keep up the hard work. 8)
I can't imagine you working outside, as big as that garage looks.

As far as the car (truck) shows goes, just leave the truck at home and take the pictures with you, they look good.

Good luck.

P.S. Hello Lonnie, you good looking bald rascal.

Doug,

Your truck is kinda similar to mine. Nice job with the Aerosol overhaul. That looks better than some of the stuff I've seen body shops turn out. Keep up the good work and let us know how it runs.

Well, here are a few pics of the engine: 466, Probe flat tops .003 above deck, Scat H-beam's,fully ported D0VE's with Victor port match & cut .010. w/ 2.25/1.76 valves, Lunati Voodoo 61605 hyd cam, 241/249 @.050 & 582/600 lift. Victor intake w/ Holley 850 & starting with 150 shot of nitrous::

The stock valve covers actually don't look too bad on there. Though I'm thinking of putting my Ford Racing polished aluminum ones on in their place, I haven't decided yet. Hopefully I can fire it up next weekend after my pushrods get here. I was hoping to have it running for the races this weekend on the 1st of July but ain't it funny how when you run out of money, the parts just stop coming too.? Oh well, I'm quite certain nobody else here has had that problem... I'll keep ya posted. Thanks to all who have helped me answer my many questions to help me get this thing as far as it is, especially Scott @ RHP. :D
