I have a 521 in my Pantera and am considering converting it to a boss. In addition to the heads, rocker assemblies, pushrods, valve covers and maybe pistons is there anything else I would need? Will my existing headers, distributor and intake work or would they also need to be changed?
Thank you,
Forest

New intake, and headers. Distributor will depend on what you currently have and which boss intake you choose. Pistons aren't a maybe, they're also required. No other 385 head has similar valvetrain geometry. How much room do you currently have around your heads? Boss heads are enormous, but I hope this project comes together!

Yeaahhhh, that's gnna need a BFH and a hot wrench to make those big heads and headers fit for sure... If you can make it fit it's gnna look totally cool tho!!! Also question... Is the conversion for power increase or visual and uniqueness of the car?

Seen it done.Remote water pump, and moved the motor a little further foward with a second spacer plate behind the motor. He welded the spacers to the bell, longer fly wheel spacer, and it still a little well trimming, front and back radiators.

I was gnna say, if it's for power a set of Kaase heads will get you more than adequate power. But I understand the visual impact of a huge set of Boss 29 valve covers. If you have the want to, the time, the ability, and the $$$, anything is possible tho! @boss 9 howard had some good suggestions to make it happen!! Either way you go that's a really awesome install as is. More pics would be really cool, and if you want start up a build thread that would be great as well!!

I will try to add photos. Never done this before. The existing heads are edelbrock 75cc chambers.

This is the area I have concerns about clearance.
Is that a mid plate or some kind or adapter plate between the block and bell housing? If either can you tell us a little bit about it .
You probably have slept since you bought/made it ,but any details about it would be cool.

It is an adapter plate to mate the clevland bell to the 429 block. It is 1/2" thick and puts the face of the flywheel the same distance into the bell as the clevland was so clutch fitup works.
