If we can help with zoomies or anything just holler. I love that class and the principle of what you are doing. Do you know my buddy Tom Frye from Ohio? He runs this class also. I would not mention bore center to the tech guy. Tim
You don't have to publicize your intended combo, but just a thought: You can take a dime-a-dozen 460 block and sleeve all 8 down to 4.25" bore. 429 crankshaft and 4.25 bore = 407 cubes. In this particular case, sleeving all 8 does not hurt structural integrity of the block since the original casting is still 100% intact (bore to only 4.385 for sleeving down to 4.25).
Want a 410 cuber with more stoke? Take that 460 block and sleeve it down even further.
The advantage to this over the D9TE-BB 370 block is that you will have much, much thicker cylidners than the 370 blocks that I have seen.
HEY Racer Rick - If you decide to do what paul is talking about with the 4.25" bore - Let me know as i have a set of 4.25" bore diamond pistons for a 385 series that I can sell you for a real good deal!
Biggest deal is doing on a budget. Sleeving 8 cylinders is pricy & I still have to make sure the boss/wife will drive it if it goes fast enough. Sleeves did cross my mind but I can probably do a Cleveland (yuk) cheaper since I have access to quite a bit of that too.
like the short stroke / stock bore. should cost less also. destroked 429 crank, 6.7 bbc rod, stock 429 pistons. but better deal 6.8 rod and still use 429 scj piston cut to give a small dome. on h beam rods bushing would need removel for pin fit ( that needs looking into.) should be low cost and small intake port friendly. A Brown knows what has to be done to correctly destroke a crank
I'm no expert, but it seems like destroking the BBF would make more sense. The engine would be much more rev happy and would continue to give room for the heads to breath. A short stroke engine should be a real screamer. Probably wouldn't even need any fancy heads either.
Selling the last of my BBF stuff so everything is priced to sell. Shoot me an offer worst I can say is no. I’m located in Trumbull CT 06611 and I’m in northern NJ 4 days a week around the 07052 area. I can meet up in person as well
