Currently putting an Edelbrock 7566 intake manifold on an 86 F250 460. What is/was the purpose of the small tombstone rising from the floor of the engine block valley? Nothing is attached and it has a couple of drain plugs installed. Also, is it OK to re-use the four existing studs with nuts when installing the new manifold. I don't want to chance twisting off one during removal.

Thanks much for the help!

The "tombstone" is an oil cross over from one cam gallery to the other. Small blocks have this in the rear of the lifter galley and use a simple press in plug.

It's fine to use the existing studs as long they are in good condition. Lots of times they will be corroded near where they screw into the block.
