If your going to build a car that will need to be SFI legal, you will need more sizes than just the 1.625" x .083" tubing. If you can't find it locally for an acceptable price, you might try some of these major chassis shops. Usually the more sticks of tubing you buy, the lower the price goes.

Mail-ordering 'molly tubing used to be a decent deal, even with truck shipping costs. Compared to the hassle of dealing with local steel warehouses that can be either total assholes to deal with, (or they never have the size 'moly tubing you want) mail ordering tubing was easy. But now days the cost saving you might have seen mail-ordering 'moly tubing can disappear due to the higher cost of truck shipping from higher fuel costs.

You might be able to save a few bucks on truck shipping if you don't need full lengths of tubing. This is because some of the above listed shops will UPS ground ship tubing if you can use shorter cut lengths.

thanks i will check some of them. I am going to do a 25.5 deal. I am thinking get the best deal on 1 5/8 and 1 1/2 then buy the little stuff locally. local guy quoted me 5.75 per ft on 1 5/8, does this sound close?

thanks,
