Man I'm getting irritated by so many guys jumping in and being on the spot moderators.

So what if a guy posts the wrong thing in general tech, or accidentally posts to the garage.

If it's a big deal, Chilly or Jones will sort it out.

Time for the "vigilante posse" to give it a rest. If you guys are so interested in enforcing so called stupid rules, become a security guard somewhere.

I guess that I'm part of this police, but I don't try to be mean or anything. I just mention if it seems to be in the wrong place that the OP would get a better response in XYZ area. Sorry if this offends some, just trying to help the OP get the help they need.:(

I think he is talking about a few of us Schmitty, probably me about jumping on the Street Racer for wanting a death trap to go kill himself and someone else... Well I will put it this way if he bulds it and kills someone you just take it and put part of the blame on your shoulders for encouraging him to build it cuz you said it was ok.....When he specifically said it was to be for Street Racing...... I discourage it in every way shape or form,,, Period

With all due respect to you Greg, stop and look at what you do. I am not at all trying to point a finger at you, but look what you posted to George.

Telling a person to use the search function with out giving him useful information pertaining to his question, verses telling a person they posted in the wrong forum is not much different in my opinion. But you know what they say about opinions, " they are just like butt holes, everyone has one and most of them stink.":D

No, Randy, that's not the deal, you have an opinion just like everyone else....and you have the right to present your opinion here or anywhere else.

As far as I'm concerned, we're cool, bro!

What I was getting at was how a guy might forget his address in a classified ad and then he gets knocked around by several guys that might be trying to help, but come across as mall cops.

No offense taken, but in GFP's case it is entirely different in my view.

I hear from Richter69 that GFP's a good guy, however, he just needs some serious forum etiquette.

The guy basically mucks up so many threads (BEST PRICE), and creates so many other nonsense threads it is unbelieveable. Finally it got to me in that one case.

We just need to hear from Chilly or Jones on this one, and they need to put it out there, once and for all, who is in charge of thread and post moderation duties.

I really see the place as "self-policing", with Jones or I helping to fix larger issues that come along. It's always run this way, and it's why for the most part we run pretty smoothly compared to other sites.

We can't read every line of every post, so there is stuff that gets through. If a guy handles it with some tact and etiquette, it usually goes fine if he "corrects" another guy on the forum. No problem.

Greg, honestly, the issue gets to be messy when guys are smartasses when they "correct" another guy.

For instance, you opened with "Did you receive some kind of exemption from doing a search?" When dealing with GFP. That kind of thing will just go downhill because you've set the tone.

As far as GFP is concerned, he has a different style but I haven't seen one instance where he antagonizes anyone, or does anything harmful. If I rode everyone who was "different" on this forum, I'd never leave the computer.

Point taken, Chilly, but this isn't really about GFP. Although I can't imagine anyone else asking about a 370 bore and stroke and getting anything but a "thread police" type response.

Obviously I'm outnumbered on this one, and that's cool! It's not my house, and I'll abide by the rules.

The fact that all I can bitch about is the thread vigilantism means this place is really running pretty good IMHO.

I think the "self policing is ok for the most part. But often what I see on this site is "the regulars or the click" often join in all at once, sometimes that comes off as "attacking" a new member that otherwise really didn't know any better. As chilly mentioned I think this also "sets a tone"

jmo guys...just saying.
