Hey guys, I'm building a 1930 ford coupe, with a 460 and c6. I have an opportunity to pick up a blue thunder dual quad intake and an original 427 dual quad carb setup. I believe the cards a 600cfm. I really dig the look this combo has for the old school hot rod look, but don't want to waste money on it, if it's not applicable. The motor is 73' rebuilt,.30 over hypertechtik stock style Pistons, dv3e heads no port work. Valve job, ss exhaust valves, aftermarket springs, rods and an rv cam, with pre emissions timing set. I have dove heads I'm probably going to work and run as well as new cam. Curious to your knowledge and experience. Thanks

HI, Yes use the DO heads over the D3's the D3 have a big hump in the exhaust port and if your not doing any port work it would cause the loss of power and a waste of the build.
good luck

That's a whole lot to ask of a 30 space-wise. I put a 5.0l roller motor in my '31 and had to recess the firewall almost 5 inches. Unless you are using a '32 frame (is a few inches longer than a 30/31 frame up front), you will have to do some serious firewall massaging as well as steering gear relocating. The 545 I have in my '32 required a 4-3/8" recess and SERIOUS steering mods. Not saying don't do it by any means, just be aware you have some creative thinking to do when you get into it.

So do ALL of the early castings as well. All BBF castings have a thermactor boss off of the valve guide.

D0VE's bosses were only drilled in Cali.

Some HD truck castings have a smaller boss that does not come right up to the guide boss in height.
